Sitting taisho

Yesterday I wrote about the Gyokuryuki Kendo Tournament.
Today I will introduce about last year's this convention.
The Gyokuryuki Kendo Tournament is a winning battle.

It was Kyushu Gakuin High School who won the tournament in 2017. It is a famous strong school in recent high school Kendo in Japan.
The participating team is 547 teams and they have to win 10 matches from the first round to the final.
Kyushu Gakuin High School has attained "sitting taisho", which has never gotten a match against taisho through this convention.
In the semifinals and final, it will be a match between the strong schools. So it is unusual that the game will not turn to taisho.
In Kyushu Gakuin High School, not only Iwakiri of taisho but also chuken and fukusho players are strong, they decided the game only by them.

It is a video of the final game.

At 10:12, Chikamoto of fukusho immediately jumped from the  Gyakudo and took a Men.
In a later interview, Chikamoto says, "I knew gyakudo was weak and not a ippon, the next moment the body was moving."

It is often in kendo (although it is often found in other sports as well) that a mindlessly technique decides the game. Their high school has a very hard practice every day. I think that it is a gift of daily training.
