One of the high school students' famous competitions
in Japan is the Gyokuryuki Kendo Tournament.
Only qualifications for participation are
high school students. More than 500 teams from all over Japan will gather
tournaments, from strong team to normal team.
This competition has characteristics
different from other competitions.
It is a winning battle.
Normally, only players in the same position
as senpo vs senpo, jiho vs jiho ... will play games, but at the Gyokuryuki Kendo Tournament, the winning player
will play the next player as it is. If they draw, the next player will play a
match in both teams. The team that taisho loses earlier will lose.
Ex)
TeamA vs TeamB(〇;win,×;draw)
senpo〇-senpo
senpo〇-jiho
senpo×chuken
jiho×fukusho
chuken-〇taisho
fukusho×taisho
taisho〇-taisho
TeamA is winner.
On a team with a strong senpo, it is often
that only the senpo will play a game and the team will win.
Ex)
TeamC vs TeamD
senpo〇-senpo
senpo〇-jiho
senpo〇-chuken
senpo〇-fukusho
senpo〇-taisho
TeamC is winner.
If you win five people you will be honored.
If Taisho is strong, even if the previous
four people lose, there is a chance of victory.
Ex)
TeamE vs TeamF
senpo〇-senpo
senpo〇-jiho
senpo〇-chuken
senpo〇-fukusho
senpo -〇taisho
jiho-〇taisho
chuken-〇taisho
fukusho-〇taisho
taisho-〇taisho
TeamF is winner.(It's very long match!)
It seems that athletes who won the most in
the past have won 24 people.
Recently, Kakeru Umegatagani, a taisho of
Fukuoka Ohori High School in 2013, led the team to the victory with 11 persons
withdraw at the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final match. He became a legend
of the competition on this occasion.
When he was high school students, you might notice he preferred Hiki-Men, Kote and tricky techniques, but in university, he chose more normal Men than before. it is also interesting to see his growth, so I will show you future article.
There are many videos of Gyokuryuki Ippon omnibus, it is fun to watch!
